Dove eravamo rimasti? Dopo più di un mese di assenza dovuta, stavolta, non solo ad una scelta lavorativa che mi ha travolta e mi occupa in maniera intensivissima, ma anche ad una bella ricaduta in problematiche di salute dalle quali ero proprio convinta di essere immune....e invece....zac....quando meno te lo aspetti, tornano prepotentemente a colpirti approffittando del fatto che hai smesso di concentrarti su loro possibili attacchi per pensare ad altro, che in quel momento, ritieni assolutamente prioritario rispetto, anche, alla salute.
Comunque, con grande sforzo, oggi pomeriggio,visto che sono a casa dal lavoro, mi sono quasi fatta violenza...e, iniziando dal blog, vorrei cercare, per quanto possibile di riprendermi quegli spazi, se non tutti, almeno in parte, che facevano parte della mia esistenza fino ad un paio di mesi fa. Quanto meno ci provo....se poi non riesco....amen....vorrà dire che questo blog verrà abbandonato temporaneamente...per essere ripreso in tempi meno "problematici" di quello attuale.

July 8 - Domme and the Dordogne navigation gabarre

Here is bread, usually baked in a wood, among the good of the planet. Both the white bread that the cereals, wholemeal or with different types of ingredients is really one of the absolute delights of this area ... but pate and foie gras!!
fact there is a dealer market, which we have experienced in recent days in another market, that sells these wonderful bread baked in the oven. For each type of bread you use a different wood for cooking and this gives the finished product taste and aroma unavailable. Obviously for the cakes is the same thing: I love the croissants are very good ones ... without filling ... you can marry with sweet or salty tastes. I like very much as a savory version with local smoked ham and cheese in this area are endless and delicious. Ci siamo anche regalati un ottimo caffè (è molto facile qui trovare il petit creme, un caffè ristretto con schiuma di latte buonissimo) sulla terrazza panoramica di un bel Cafè e poi ci siamo diretti verso un’area pic nic dove abbiamo mangiato.
Dopo una breve sosta ci siamo diretti verso Beynac, dove abbiamo deciso di farci un giro sulla Gabarre. Le Gabarre sono imbarcazioni tipiche di questa zona vecchie di secoli. Come vi ho già detto la Dordogna aveva un’importanza fondamentale per la vita delle persone nei secoli scorsi: si pescava, si trasportavano i materiali, si raggiungevano i paesi limitrofi…insomma a real street trading and transport around which the economy of these parts.

9 luglio – Chateau de Fenelon
Oggi giornata afosa da far paura…cielo poco azzurro e offuscato da quella « pannosità » tipica delle days when the humidity is very high. said that this house has a wonderful and large garden / park that can absolutely be enjoyed great freedom: you can lie down in the sun on a sun loungers, or just lie in the shadow of private forest that surrounds the house and inside which is also placed a wrought iron table with chairs placed in the barbecue area, to be used if you wish to eat in the shaded area or have a nice game of Rummy. Today we have instead decided to challenge in court on the lawn in front of the house. Its dimensions are just those of the tennis court and we've adjusted and we have started a challenge that had no end. Every now and then a break to drink a bit 'of iced tea and relax on the deck, strictly located in the shaded area and then took over to give us a racket. Two emeriti incapable as we are well able to argue for the allocation of points, but this is normal ... we seem more and more star in Casa Vianello.
But back to the morning and let's say a few words of the castle. This, too, built in the Middle Ages and then adapted to the needs of later centuries. Very nice interior, immaculate rooms that can be visited and also located at a point where you can enjoy one of the best views of the valley of the Dordogne.
Unfortunately I could not take pictures inside the rooms as they are now owned private and belong to the family who lives in the castle.
This castle is important not just to the building itself, but because it gave birth to a historical figure who had his reputation at the time in which he lived.
This is Francois de Salignac de la Mothe Fenelon. He was a monk who lived at the court of Louis XIV and was tutor to the younger son, later became Duke of Burgundy. He was a famous writer in France, and he used to sign his writings under the pseudonym of Fenelon. Is called a precursor of the philosophical system of the Enlightenment.
